Privacy Policy.
Restate Digital builds websites and runs campaigns for small and growing businesses. This page explains what personal information this site collects, why we collect it, who else can see it, and how to switch off the parts you would rather not have. It is written in plain English on purpose.
Who we are
Restate Digital (ABN 70 121 499 647) is a digital studio based in Australia. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Restate Digital.

What we collect
Your information reaches us in four ways.
- The contact form. Your name, email address, phone number, the project details you write, the budget range you select, and the services you tick.
- Talking to us directly. Anything you put in an email, a message to one of our social profiles, or a phone call.
- How the site gets used. Analytics tools report which pages were viewed, the general region a visit came from, the device and browser used, how long people stayed and what they clicked. This describes behaviour on the site rather than identifying you by name.
- Ordinary server logs. Standard request data, including the IP address a request came from. We also hold your IP address in memory for a few minutes to rate limit the contact form against spam bots. It is never written to a database and it disappears shortly after.
Why we collect it
To answer your enquiry, to quote on your project, and to do the work once you engage us. We also keep the records the law requires us to keep, such as invoicing and tax records.
To understand how this site is used, so we can improve it.
To market our services, which includes advertising to people who have already been in touch. The next section sets out exactly what that means.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent it or trade it.
Marketing and advertising
If you have enquired with us, we may use your details to market our services back to you. In practice that means two things.
- Ads that follow up. We may include your email address in an audience list we provide to an advertising platform, so that our ads reach you rather than a stranger. The platform matches it against its own accounts in a scrambled form, and it does not tell us anything new about you.
- Emails. We may send you occasional email about our services. Every one carries an unsubscribe link, and using it takes you off the list for good.
You can stop both at any time. Use the unsubscribe link, or email contact@restatedigital.com.au and ask to come off marketing entirely. Doing so has no effect on a project we are working on together.
Who else can see it
We use a small number of third party providers to run the studio, and each one sees only what its job requires: the company that hosts this website, the service that delivers contact form submissions to our inbox, the analytics provider that reports on site usage, and the advertising platforms that run our campaigns.
They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes. Beyond them we do not disclose your information to anyone, unless you ask us to or the law compels us.
Where it goes
Several of those providers operate outside Australia, including in the United States, so some of your information is processed overseas. We take reasonable steps to work with providers that handle it to a standard comparable to the one required here.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that become projects are kept for the life of the engagement and for seven years after it ends, which is the period Australian business records must be retained.
Enquiries that do not go anywhere are kept for up to two years, in case you come back to us, and then deleted.
Analytics data is retained for a rolling period set in the analytics tool, currently no longer than 14 months.
Keeping it safe
The site is served over HTTPS, so what you type into the form is encrypted in transit. Access to the studio inbox requires multi factor authentication.
No system is perfect. If a breach ever affects your information we will tell you promptly, and tell you what to do about it.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@restatedigital.com.au and we will respond within 30 days.
You can also act without contacting us at all: block or clear cookies in your browser, switch off ad personalisation in the advertising platform's own settings, and unsubscribe from any email we send.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle a request, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children
This site is aimed at businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Anything material gets called out here rather than slipped in quietly.
